Homework Helpers
The “Homework Helpers” program at McKinley Elementary School, sponsored by the Temple Social Action Committee, has been well received by volunteers, students and faculty. We have had fifty volunteers on our weekly newsletter, both from the Temple, other supporting organizations and individuals, helping first and second graders with reading, spelling, etc. on a one-to-one basis. The teachers and administration at McKinley were enthusiastic about the results, and have encouraged us to continue the program this year.
The 2013-14 program starts the second week of October. We will meet Monday through Thursday at the new one-story McKinley School from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Volunteers are asked to commit to one hour a week for the school year. You will mentor two students for a half-hour each.
Contact Jay Mirrow and choose your time slot for this year. If you have not volunteered and would like more information, contact Robin Stone or Jay Mirrow.
