Dear Religious School Families,
As we approach the 2026-2027 school year, the Religious Education Committee has been hard at work updating and making changes to the religious school curriculum, revising staff positions, and doing our best to create a loving environment and community where our families feel a sense of belonging. The Religious School Staff, Cantor Roher, Rabbi Delson and I intend to create a positive, safe, and engaging environment to ensure that Jewish learning will thrive. Throughout the school year, my goals for your children are to be excited to attend religious school, to spend time with their Jewish friends, to be stimulated learning new material that will be meaningful in their Jewish lives, and to understand that Jewish learning is a life-long process.
Religious school classes are held on Sunday morning from 9:15-11:30AM for all students in grades pre-kindergarten-ninth grade. Our Wednesday afternoon Hebrew program for fourth-sixth graders meets from 4:30-6:00PM. Our curriculum is filled with family programs, hands-on and interactive lessons.
Temple Tots
Temple Tots is an opportunity for our youngest temple members (3 months-3 years old) and their parents to experience a taste of Judaism monthly through music, movement, art, dramatic play, Hebrew and Jewish stories. If you wish to enroll your child in Temple Tots, please complete the Temple Tots registration form. The fee for Temple Tots is $75.00 per child for the year or $12.00 per session.
Pre Hebrew Program
Five years ago, we implemented an after-school Hebrew program for students in grades kindergarten-third grade on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:00PM. The Hebrew class follows the Hebrew school calendar. This class will introduce letters and simple vocabulary through games, art, and other creative opportunities. The price to attend this program is $75.00 per student. We must have five students enrolled to run this class.
Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is essential to the success of our religious education program. We need one “classroom helper” per grade. Responsibilities include inviting families to class Shabbats, coordinating field trips, developing a snack schedule, setting up mystery readers and anything else the teacher would need help with. To volunteer, contact me at wpayne@templese.com.
The fee for Sunday classes is $200.00 per child. Wednesday classes begin when students are in fourth grade and are an additional $450.00 per child. Limited scholarship monies are available for religious and Hebrew school students. If you need scholarship assistance, please contact Lynda Dolgin-Duda, Finance Manager at (419)885-3341 and she will send you the necessary forms. The Temple Finance Committee will review your confidential request.
We are looking forward to an exciting year with your family. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me through the temple office or wpayne@templese.com.
Warm regards,
Wendy Payne
